Faculty: Susan E. Mayer, Ph.D., Harris School of Public Policy Studies, The University of Chicago

Creating Sustainable Solutions for Education Development is a unique two-day executive education program offered by the Dubai School of Government and The Harris School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago. This distinctive course will draw on international experiences and regional insights to assist education policy makers in the development of robust, sustainable education policies.

Delving into the universal challenges that the education sector faces, the program will discuss the benefits of various educational systems, the skills they teach and the resources necessary to provide a good educational environment. The course will also offer insight into the challenges faced at the national level in the planning, implementation and evaluation of education policies.

Through its interactive sessions, Creating Sustainable Solutions for Education Development will help participants answer questions such as "What are the characteristics of good education systems?", "What public policies can lead to higher quality schooling?", "What are the challenges facing education policy makers in the Middle East?" and "How can we more effectively plan and evaluate policies?" Upon examination of international and local education policies and practices, through case studies and group discussions, participants will gain a better understanding of the education policy process and how to add value to their own education systems in real and practical ways.
